Kris Staples-Weyrauch

When he was 13, Kris decided to be a musician. He took his father’s old, beat-up six-string into his room and didn’t come out until he had mastered the basic chords and scales. But that wasn’t enough. Over the next eight years he devoted himself to understanding and experimenting with music theory, teaching himself his favorite albums and applying the techniques to his own palette of riffs and motifs.

Kris’s love for music is not exclusive. Ever since his first experience as a TA in middle school he realized he loved to teach, and assisted the Bellingham High School Band Instructor as a paraeducator. He found a love for teaching music and has been teaching guitar, bass, and keys to a myriad of students for the last three years.

Now he’s a music-making machine, a multi-instrumentalist specializing in bass. “[Kris] plays bass with a low, deep sound… heavy on both melody and harmony,” says Matt Bilderback at What’s Up Magazine. He performs in three local bands and is an active member of the prestigious WCC music club. In his down time he jams with his enthusiastic roommate, eats, and sleeps.

Are you ready to rock? Kris offers affordable rates for any age or skill level. He loves to teach and welcomes all attitudes and aspirations. Whether you want to groove to a few bass lines in the privacy of your garage, or make it to the top of the charts, Kris has the experience and enthusiasm to get you to where you want to be.
